EXPLORE CAPE HAZE & PLACIDA

Cape Haze & Placida

The Cape Haze–Placida area offers a refined coastal setting shaped by water, and a quiet sense of permanence. Positioned along Gasparilla Sound and Charlotte Harbor, this mainland peninsula sits just minutes from Boca Grande while providing direct access to protected waterways and the Gulf beyond.

Historically, Cape Haze developed as a working coastal landscape—fishing, ranching, and rail once defined the area. In the early 1900s, the extension of the railroad to Boca Grande passed through Placida, anchoring the region as a logistical gateway between the mainland and the islands.

Remnants of that era remain subtle but meaningful, lending depth and authenticity to a community that has evolved carefully over time.

Today, Cape Haze and Placida are known for their livability and function. Waterfront neighborhoods are oriented toward boating and sound-side views, with easy navigation through Gasparilla Sound and out to the Gulf of Mexico. Much of the surrounding water is protected within the Cape Haze Aquatic Preserve, preserving natural shorelines and maintaining the character of the boating environment.

On land, the area is defined by established neighborhoods, mature landscaping, and amenities such as the Cape Haze Pioneer Trail and the private Coral Creek Club, a Tom Fazio–designed course overlooking Coral Creek.

Cape Haze–Placida is not designed to compete with Boca Grande—it complements it. For those seeking coastal elegance, meaningful water access, and proximity to the island lifestyle while remaining grounded on the mainland, this peninsula offers a distinctive and enduring place to live.
