DON PEDRO & PALM ISLAND

Don Pedro & Palm Island

Don Pedro and Palm Island represent one of the last places on Florida’s Gulf Coast where the pace is still set by tides, weather, and daylight—not traffic and schedules. Separated from the mainland and accessible primarily by boat or car ferry, these neighboring barrier islands offer a quieter, more deliberate coastal lifestyle rooted in Old Florida character.

Palm Island is a private residential island known for its low-density development, golf-cart living, and a mix of full-time residences and second homes tucked among native palms and mangroves. There are no high-rises and no commercial sprawl—just neighborhoods connected by sandy roads, docks along the Intracoastal, and wide, uncrowded Gulf beaches. Communities like Rum Cove add an extra layer of privacy, with some of the most desirable home sites in the region.

Just to the south, Don Pedro Island remains largely preserved as a state park
